- I am delighted to announce the publication of "What Comfort Can Our Worship Bring," the first of many titles to be released through GIA Publications written for the more advanced church choir. A piece of serious music for the capable chancel choir has been the request I've heard most often at conferences and conventions in the past few years, and I am thrilled to be able to offer this work as a response. With a fresh, deep and challenging text by writer Adam M. L. Tice, "What Comfort Can Our Worship Bring" is bound to invigorate your singers and stimulate your congregation. (Look for our entirely reworked
"Away in a Manger" for choir, piano, and obligato instrument next winter!)
- "And Dream Awhile," a work commissioned by the Ohio Music Educators Association, has been released. After its premiere by the Ohio All-State Choir, "And Dream Awhile" will be performed at various ACDA regional conferences around the country and in other venues by ensembles throughout Europe and Asia.
- Symphony No. 2 "Summer" is almost complete. More information about regional premieres will be announced in late June.
- "Voices of Earth," commissioned by the Cranford High School Madrigal Choir, was my first entirely collaborative project which, I'm delighted to boast, was a complete success! The students at Cranford worked with their choir director and English teachers to select a handful of poems which stimulated and inspired them. They voted on a winning text, Archibald Lampman's "Voice of Earth," which I set to music. The experience was extraordinary, and allowed me to really get to know the ensemble thereby creating a piece that was all their own.
